I have a special Thank You to SF member periqueguy.I have a pipe that was in "rough shape",and Mark(periqueguy)invited me to his home and completely restored my pipe. It is new again. It was a real learning experience to watch him use his sander and buffers and polish. He is very smooth and has several very nice pipes that he handmade himself. .
Thank you
Mark

Last week I asked Periqueguy to attempt a refurbish of an old Autograph that had been given to me by an old friend. It smelled of mold and I tried to clean it up but could not get that smell out. I gave the pipe to Mark on Saturday. Today I got it back...it looks brand slam new! No smell of old tobacco, mold or anything else. There was some charring on the rim and it's all gone too. It really shows the grain spectacularly! What a great talent he has!!!!My understanding is that he's begun a repair and refurbish business.I have no interest in his repair business but will be using it in the future!

I have a number of pipes I've accumulated over the years that needed some attention. Sent five to periqueguy, Mark Stewart, after seeing some comments on SF regarding his restoration work. I must say that the pipes I sent Mark came back in extraordinary condition. Mark understands and appreciates the finer points of pipe restoration, e.g., instead of replacing the stem in an old Ben Wade, as I thought I wanted, he recommended keeping the original stem which he brought back to like new condition. I'm sure mark would have made more profit by putting in a new stem but recognized the original marked stem made the pipe more valuable. Mark has impressed me as an honest craftsman and I will be sending him more of my old friends that can benifit from his great talent.

Well, I am just speechless. A while back I had posted a thread about some oak and hickory that I had and periqueguy [Mark Stewart] contacted me and wanted it. I also included some briar that I had that a friend was going to make me a pipe out of but got bored with it and never did anything. Anywho, Mark in his unmeasurable generosity made me a poker out of one of the briar blocks I sent him. The pics do not do this pipe justice. I have not had a bowl yet but I have to get just the right tobac for this one. This is an incredible pipe Mark and I will cherish it forever. People like you are rare and hard to find and I only hope that one day I can return your generosity. If you need a pipe made or repaired I highly recommend Mark. Again, I just cant believe the quality of this pipe:
Mark is the man!!!!
I swear that the 2 pipes he has made for me are the best smoking pipes I have ever had.
Re: I'm am speechless
I smoked my 1st bowl in it last night. What a WONDERFUL pipe. It draws incredibly easy and smokes cool, I couldn't get it to smoke hot.BONUS. Fantastic pipe from an even more fantastic pipe maker.

Greetings to all my fellow pipe smokers. I don't post often but wanted to inform all about a recent acquisition. I purchased a walnut/bamboo pipe from Mark Stewart (periqueguy) which has proven to be one of the best smoking pipes I have owned in almost forty years of smoking. If you are looking for a light, cool smoking pipe that loves VA Flake I highly recommend you look into one of these. Mark has also made a couple of briar pipes for me and they are also great pipes. I have no business connection with Mark but established a relationship with him via our mutual interest and affection for pipes crafted by the late Charlie DiFranco from Hamilton Square, NJ. Again, Mark makes some great pipes and also does terrific restoration and repair work.

I have 3 pipes he did for me. If that pipe is the one he had posted in the classified section, you dog. I wanted that!!! . Seriously folks, Mark is/has emerged as a fine craftsman and once you smoke a pipe he makes, all others pale in comparison! I bought a walnut poke from him and I love it. check out my thread on my collection and see the 3 he did for me.
